YAESU FT-101EE Amateur Radio Transceiver Picture and Description:

YAESU

I actually have a load of information on this radio since it was originally purchased. I can't say I was the original owner but my best friend was. Here's the story... Back during the CB radio craze in the 70's my best buddy wanted the biggest and best radio on the market, even if it was illegal for CB use. He bought new this 101EE and added to it the exhaust fan in the back, and I believe an AM filter, and a couple 11 meter crystals that he popped into a couple of the 10 meter slots. He was not a radio tweeker by any means. In other words, he never took the golden screwdriver to it or attempted any techie mods to the radio, nor did I. Other than the couple add-on accessories, it's a stock unit. Over the years he'd let me use it for a couple years, then I'd return it to him.. and it pretty much stayed in storage as we both got older and the Internet and computers took over our interests. He's finally told me I could keep the thing. During a couple of the periods I had it (I did finally manage a novice ticket) I did replace the two 6JS6C tubes and 12BY7A tube more than once, and the existing tubes seem to be operating properly. I would recommend that any bidder consider that this is a 35 year old radio and while it is still a great workhouse on any band it is very likely that some curcuits and componants could use some technical alignment. So don't expect to unpack it and slap an antenna on it and expect all electronic features to work on the mark. I can guarantee that the last time we hooked it up a couple months ago we had transmit and receive on 11 meters. Cosmetically the radio/speaker shows only normal wear and no major dents, scratches, or dings. At a local hamfest years ago I purchased a used YC-601 Digital Display and that seems to work just fine. I also purchased new an MFJ antenna matcher. I can include a manual for the 101EE, and the YC-601. All A/C cords are included. THERE IS NO MIC FOR THE RADIO. The original hand mic was gone years ago and I am keeping my D-104 for nostalgic reasons. Ok, the reason I am selling it... my misfortune is your good fortune. I lost my job and unemployment ran out. Even though the Prez signed into law the next unemployment benefits extention this last week, it's going to take a few weeks for me to get the money. So... bid well, everyone.. and bid often; I need gas in my car. ABOUT SHIPPING... One more thing, this thing is very heavy and very likely I will ship everything in two boxes.. one for the radio and the second with the speaker and other goodies. But I would just LOVE to not have to box and ship this stuff if the winning bidder is located near me. I am in Bullhead City, AZ and I'd be willing to meet/deliver/or buyer pickup from my location using a radius of Los Angeles to the west, Las Vegas to the north, and Flagstaff/Phoenix to the east and south. That would save the buyer some shipping bucks as well. I have indicated above that shipping would be $80.00 for BOTH boxes via parcel post. I would consider shipping via UPS.. as I would be willing to work with the buyer on a cheaper shipping method. Contact me if you have any questions. Domestic US shipping only. About Me, the Seller... I am not a power seller nor do I have any fancy Ebay store thing. I'm just an average joe (in America). The stuff I list is generally tossed my way from family members, found in relative's attics, or stuff I've purchased new myself years ago and I need to clean house. I prefer to be honest in all my listings and if something's not right I'd rather try and work it out in favor of the buyer rather than tick someone off (even though you can't make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try). All my sales are final... so to help a potential buyer make an informed bidding decision I will list as accurately as I can, illustrating any defects if any exist, and encouraging communications if more detail is needed. I will also do my best to pass on shipping charges that aren't inflated (as long as the local grocery store still tosses out decent shipping boxes).
